Migration: Get lost in fun in an adventure about getting lost

Migration (2023)

Migration is a movie like a time capsule to a simpler era of moviemaking.  At a brisk 82 minutes, it was like the generation of movies from the 90s in which a simple premise with good voice acting can keep an entire family entertained without overstaying its welcome.  It was good enough to make me smile, laugh, and feel other less pleasant emotions, but not on a level to be close to ruining my day, but it wasn’t good enough for me to remember most of it the next day.  If you take your kids, they will be entertained, but they probably won’t keep quoting it ad nauseum until you want to exterminate all ducks.  This movie is equivalent to a pacifier.  It will satisfy the target audience with the fast pace, bright colors, silly characters, and happy ending, and those outside of the target demographic can enjoy the subtle jokes that go over the children’s heads as the family of mallards trek south to a tropical paradise from their New England pond.  I would like to give this a longer review, but I’ve already forgotten most of the story beats, even though it’s only been a couple of days since seeing it.  I do remember enjoying it without being blown away.  Migration was a nice trip and I give it 944 of the 1573 miles from New York to Jamaica.
