Abominable (2019)

Abominable is a sweet, family movie about finding home and accepting loss, which seems to be a common theme with many modern family movies. It has a beautiful animation style and a ton of heart. It follows a girl and her friends who discover a yeti on their roof as they try to bring it home to the Himalayas. They are constantly pursued by a wealthy explorer who is trying to regain his glory by proving the existence of the yeti, which leads to most of the family-style hijinks that the kids love. It is a very simple premise with mostly simple characters. Only the lead girl and the wealthy explorer exhibit any true growth throughout the movie, as the other characters are simply the comic relief child, the play-it-straight boy, a walking magic furball, and employees of the villain. It is a tried and true formula, and it is played to near perfection in Abominable. The movie is very predictable, but it has enough heart, great visuals, and a well-crafted soundtrack to bring the story to life. Overall, Abominable is a great time for anybody needing a little smile or something to distract your kids for a while. I give Abominable 24000 out of the 29029 feet height of Everest.
