Angel Has Fallen is Spectacularly Dumb

Angel Has Fallen (2019)

Angel Has Fallen is a higher budget version of a 1980s Steven Seagal straight-to-home-video movie. It is so dumb. It is one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. It makes the previous two movies in the series appear intellectual. This movie has so few competent characters that you Jason Pierre Paul can count them on his hand. And the competent characters make stupid mistakes too. This movie has more plot holes than it has bullet holes, which is a lot, since the only redeeming quality is the excitement of the interpersonal action scenes. The gunfights were well made and well choreographed, but everything else about this movie was terrible, in the best way possible. Angel Has Fallen lives on the border of “just plain awful” and “so bad it’s good”. It had laughable dialogue, CGI worthy of 1998, and Nick Nolte. Actually, Nolte was the best actor in the movie, carrying his scenes and distracting from Gerard Butler’s grimacing. I’m sure Nolte and Butler got paid well, but I am assuming that half of the budget went to paying Morgan Freeman to be in a coma for 90 minutes. Freeman, with his wonderful voice, spoke for maybe 4 minutes total in the movie. His lack of voice, the awful one-liners, and the garbage structure made me very surprised to see that it took three people to write Angel Has Fallen. I don’t know anything about those three people, but I assume that they like to get drunk and try to explain dark web conspiracy theories to strangers. I cannot emphasize enough how dumb this movie is. I enjoyed watching Angel Has Fallen only because of the impressive lack of quality. I give Angel Has Fallen dumb our of dumb and dumber.
