Missing Link (2019)

Laika is the best animation company working right now. No CGI or traditional animation can compare with the majesty of their stop-motion. It is truly magnificent. While the story of Missing Link was a retread of the “journey to where you belong, finding out you don’t belong there, and ultimately finding your home in your family/friends” tale. It had enough humor, oftentimes slapstick, to keep me entertained, but beyond the visuals, it is very thin. I am finding it difficult to expand on anything in this review. Jackman and Galifianakis had decent chemistry, but the animation did the heavy lifting to bring the characters together. Missing Link is a perfect in flight movie. It will be enough to distract from the awfulness of flying, it won’t cause uproarious and disturbing laughter, and it ends on a high note. Overall, I enjoyed this very basic movie and give Missing Link 20000 of the 30000 feet in the air you will be if you ever watch this.
