Us (2019)

Us is spectacularly creepy. Everything about it is excellent. The visuals are dark and gritty and set a mysterious tone and the music is truly haunting. If you listen to the main theme, “Anthem”, over any movie, it becomes a horror movie. It even makes cat videos creepy. Jordan Peele knocks it out of the park in this nightmare-inducing ride. He does a great job of making plausible thrillers, which adds to the fear. This is the same reason that Mike Myers is scarier Freddy Krueger. The mood of the movie is truly set by Lupita Nyong’o, who is perfect. She and her family are fighting to survive what first appears to be a home invasion and then later twists into something else entirely. Every actor does great. Every shot is important. Every aspect of this movie is right. There is nothing else to say about this movie. It just does everything right. I give Us 6 of the 6 hours of sleep I lost that night because of every creak in my house.
