Incredibles 2 (2018)

Incredibles 2 was a blast. That is what movies are supposed to be. It was a fun ride with a simple story, complex characters, and fantastic set pieces that interwove to flush out everything. Was it as good as the first? No, but it was still great. We learned more about the family and their dynamic, especially the father vs. mother role in the “traditional” nuclear family. The movie also gave depth to Edna Mode and Frozone, giving each a few moments that are integral to the story. It also introduces a new world of superheroes and additional layers to the superhero ban. But while it does grow the universe in new and fun ways, it suffered from a paper-thin antagonist. Anyone who has read a Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys book will see through the “twist” nearly immediately, but that did not stop the movie from being entertaining. I really enjoyed Incredibles 2, and am excited to see if it any other animated movie can surpass it this year (I think only Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has a shot). If you have kids, enjoyed the original, or just want to have fun at the movies, you should check out Incredibles 2. I give it 15 out of Jack-Jack’s 17 powers.
